What did Smokey Say?

Today Smokey the Bear came to Emma's preschool. As soon as she got in the car she was telling me what she had learned from Smokey, about good fire and bad fire, and that Smokey was so soft and on and on. It was cute...so this afternoon we were in the car taking Madison to piano lessons and I was watching our 2 year old neighbor when C.J. tuned to him and said "Slate there are two kinds of fire good fire and bad fire, and we never play with matches." I was amazed at how much he had caught on to. So that is the lesson of the day, because only you can prevent forest fires...maybe I should put those matches up on a higher shelf...

Capybara?

So in 2nd grade all of the students do an animal report. Most of the kids choose animals that they really like, have a webkin of, or you have at least heard of, but not Madison. She came home from school about a month ago and told me that she was going to do her report on a Capybara!? I had no idea what this animal was, I said why don't you do an elephant or lion, no way she was doing a capybara, so that is what she did. If you don't know a capybara is the largest rodent in the world I(yuck) it is about the sieze of a pig and lives in South America. They can hold their breath for about 5 minutes and have webbed feet. The only good thing about them is that they don't have that long disgusting tail that most rodents have. Madison thinks that they are just so cute, I guess we each have our own opionion. Anyway, she did a great job on her report and all of the other students were very interested in this animal, and I guess school is about learning new things.

Valentines

Well I am a little behind but we hope that everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Emma and C.J. had a lot of fun puting their valentines together. Emma had Tinkerbell and C.J. had Cars valentines. I just wish that the new valentines were more like the ones that I had growing up, you know with the envelopes. We would just stick in a few conversation hearts and lick them closed, now you have to figure out how to make the candy stick to the velentine and peel off the tiny heart stickers to keep it closed, so we usually end up using a lot of tape. But I will admit that I love valentine's day, I think that it is a great opportunity to just focus on the people that you love and do something special for them. For breakfast we had heart shaped pink pancakes, and for dinner it was spaghetti of coures because it is quick, red and all of the kids love it. So happy late Valentine's day we hope you had a great one!

The Little Mermaid

Madison had the opportunity to be a part of the Missoula's Children's Theatre. Two professional actors came to Richfield on Monday and held auditons. There were about 140 children ages kindergarten to 5th grade who auditioned for 60 parts and Madsion got cast as a Seahorse. She spent everyday after shcool the whole week practicing and two perfromances were held on Saturday. I was amazed at what these people could do in 5 days with these kids. It was such a great opportunity for Madison to be a part of. As a result she has been singing constantly, sing with me...a cowboy loves his leisure ant there an't non can measure up to the listen' pleasure of a country tune... anyway it was fun to see her on stage singing, galoping, and naying and it give her some extra self-confidence.

four-wheeling

we spent some more time in the snow, we went for a four-wheeler ride looking for a lot of snow, but we didn't find much so Tom was the tube puller, the girls loved it, C.J. not so much. It is always great to spend time with family.

Tubing Fun

We had a great day in Mayfield tubing.

Lots of Cousins
lots of sun
and tasty hot chocolate

Crazy Boy!

Every time I try to take a picture of C.J. he will say not and put on a grumpy face or he will pull a silly face, he is such a funny boy. I think that he gets his personality from his dad. His new antics include running in front of you as you are walking and stating "I WANT TO BE IN FRONT". Another one is when his pants are falling down (becasue he doesn't have a behind{he gets that from his dad too}) he will say "my bum is cracking" he has us laughing all the time. Three is such a trying and fun age.

Cute Kids!

There is this old metal shed that I have wanted to use as a backdrop for some pictures of my kids, I think they truned out pretty cute!

Emma's 5th B-day Party

Emma had her very first friend birthday party this year, call me a slacker, but she never seemed to mind. So she had six of her friends come over for a unicorn/pajama party (thats what you get when you let them decide the theme) she had such a great time, and considering most of her gifts included something related to horses or ponies she was a very happy girl. They all enjoyed making crafts and eating cupcakes and ice cream. I still can't believe that she is 5!
